Starting Your Driving Journey: What Happens in Lesson One
ea.A calm, friendly introduction to driving in a quiet, pressure-free area
Feeling Nervous
It’s completely normal to feel nervous before your first driving lesson—most people do! To help you settle in, I begin the session by driving us to a calm, quiet area where you can relax and get used to the surroundings. My aim is to make your first experience as comfortable and reassuring as possible.
License & Eyesight Checks
Before any driving begins, we’ll go through a couple of simple checks. I’ll confirm your provisional driving license details and carry out a quick eyesight check to make sure you can clearly read a number plate from the required distance. This only takes a moment and is a standard part of every first lesson.
Getting to Know the Car
Once we’re parked safely, I’ll introduce you to the controls of the car. We’ll go over the basics such as the pedals, gears, mirrors, and especially clutch control. You’ll have time to practise finding the “biting point” and learn how the car responds, all while staying stationary so you can build confidence.
Your First Drive
When you’re ready, we’ll move on to some gentle driving in the quiet area. You’ll start with simple moves like pulling away, steering, and stopping smoothly. There’s no pressure—we go at your pace, and I’m there to guide you through every step to ensure your first drive feels positive and encouraging.
